The Problem of Evil (Job 40.7 – 41.11)

By Canon Ant Pettit

Many of us will ask how a good God can allow bad things to happen to good people.

In Job 40 and 41, we hear a creative explanation that helps us to understand both the problem and who God is.

This sermon from the 21st Sunday after Trinity 2024 adapts the lectionary reading from God’s first response in Job 38.1-7 [34-41] to God’s second response in Job 40.7 – 41.11

By addressing the climax a God’s soliloquy to Job, we explore the problem of death, evil, and their impacts on human beings.
