Youth

To oversee and encourage holistic growth of outreach and ministry amongst youth and children and their families in the Anglican Church of Bermuda and beyond and to provide training and procedures for good working practice.

About

Training youth and children’s leaders

  • To offer strategies for recruitment for leadership
  • To offer training and encouragement to those involved in youth and children’s ministry
  • To hold regular networking meetings for youth and children’s leaders for mutual support
  • To connect with youth and children’s ministries within the Anglican Communion worldwide
  • To partner with other youth and children’s organizations where relevant

Procedures

  • To establish and maintain agreed and workable guidelines for Diocesan wide policies and procedures to be reviewed and approved annually by Synod, to include:
    • Application forms for volunteers and families
    • Child protection forms
    • Accident and incident forms
    • Guidelines for leaders
    • Policies for prayer, internet use and other safety issues

Resources

  • To provide useful resources for and training in the use of:
    • Sunday School material
    • Youth group material
    • Confirmation classes
    • To explore resourcing a full time Diocesan Youth Officer

Events

  • To provide opportunities for young people to come together including:
    • Diocesan annual youth camp
    • Confirmation training
    • Annual ministry conference
    • Central or regional youth services
    • Diocesan youth bands/choirs

Outreach

  • To encourage and equip specific outreach to young people in the community through events, programmes (for example Messy Church, Fresh Expressions)

Schools work

  • To assist in fostering good relationships with local schools
  • To provide guidance on schools work, including assemblies, visits, clubs
  • To explore the formation of Anglican Schools

Child protection and safeguarding

  • To oversee the implementation of child protection in each parish
  • To oversee training in child protection
