Synod Finance Committee

To oversee the financial arrangements of the Synod and to ensure that they carried out with integrity and wisdom.

About

Membership

  • The Bishop  – Chair (ex-officio)
  • The Synod Treasurer
  • Up to seven representatives from the parishes (as appointed by the Synod Standing Committee from nominations from the parishes).

Terms of Reference

  • To assist the Synod Treasurer in the preparation and presentation of the Audited Accounts for the Annual General Meeting of the Synod
  • To conduct an annual review of clergy stipends and as directed a complete revision of the scale
  • To oversee the accounts of the Synod and to present a Budget for approval at the Synod’s AGM
  • To receive the audited parish accounts
  • To supervise the Synod’s financial investments
  • To prepare annual filings for the Charities Commission on behalf of the Synod
  • As signatories on behalf of the Synod for the Watlington Memorial Trust, to oversee investments and disbursements in accordance with the purposes of the said trust
  • To co-opt ad hoc sub committees for the purposes inter alia of conducting fund raising and or stewardship campaigns for the Synod
  • To meet once a quarter or as necessary to fulfill these terms of reference
  • To make a report to the Annual General Meeting of the Synod on its activities
  • Any other responsibility as delegated to it by the Bishop, Synod or Standing Committee
