Mission and Evangelism

About

This committee oversees the work of Evangelism and Mission in the Diocese and to encourages and equips parishes and individuals in the work of Evangelism and Mission, including:

1. Appointing parish representatives to provide liaison and communication between the committee and the parishes, Clericus, and Synod.
2. To review the existing provisions to establish what evangelism is currently going on in the Diocese of Bermuda.
3. To provide vision, training, resources, and opportunity for the work of evangelism through the local Church and its members including:
   • Training courses – personal evangelism, parish evangelism strategies
   • To encourage and provide training for those specifically gifted in evangelism
   • Provide opportunities for those outside of the faith to discover Christ for themselves  (ie Christianity Explored/ Alpha, Emmaus)
   • To helping Parishes to develop evangelistic strategies, including, bridge building, sowing, reaping and discipleship training
   • To host central events which are evangelistic in nature
4. To involve members/teams from the Diocese in missionary work within and outside Bermuda
   • To oversee social mission outreach in Bermuda, working with other stakeholders (Salvation Army, etc)
   • Encourage young people to take ‘gap years’ in missionary settings (ie YWAM, OM, Tear Fund ,World Vision, SAMS, Isubilo, UCCF, Intervarsity Christian Fellowship, Young Life etc.)
   • Develop mission links (MU, companion Diocese)
   • Support people on short term mission placements/camps
5. To work with other denominations in evangelism & mission
   1. Sharing resources, training
   2. Co-hosting events
