President:The Right Revd Nicholas Dill
The Anglican Theological Institute of Bermuda is the brainchild of Bishop Nick. Upon his consecration he sought advice and counsel from other Anglican bishops of the Communion, and consulted with ecumenical friends and colleagues to see how a Theological training centre might be created for Bermuda.
Bishop Nicks acts not only as ATIB’s President, but also as the one who makes awards to students who successfully complete our courses.
A barrister by training, he studied for ordination at Wycliffe Hall in the University of Oxford. Bishop Nick ensures we keep the scriptures at the heart and centre of all we do, and Jesus as the focus and context of our ministry. He also inaugurated the Thomas and Winifred Nisbett Lectures in Biblical Theology.
Within ATIB, Bishop Nick tutors in preaching and communication at all academic levels and ministry roles.

Director: The Revd Canon Anthony Pettit M.A.
Known as “Ant”, Canon Anthony was appointed as Director of Training and Discipleship in the Diocese of Bermuda in 2016. With Bishop Nicholas Dill, he founded what was then known as “St Mellitus Affiliate: Bermuda”, and established the first course in 2017. In 2022 he oversaw the transformation to “The Anglican Theological Institute of Bermuda” and continues to develop educational programmes to train Christians for a wide variety of ministries, including ordination. Ant works with colleagues at St Mellitus College (UK) to develop teaching and learning styles which can adapt to learners’ educational needs. He is passionate about opening Theological Education to all ages and academic levels.
He holds degrees in Musicology from Birmingham City University and Theology from Durham University. Ant is currently a Postgraduate Researcher with the Cambridge Theological Federation through Westcott House and Anglia Ruskin University.
His research interests include late-medieval English Church music, acoustics, liturgics, and semiotics.
When he isn’t directing ATIB, he is the Priest-in-Charge of the parish church of St Paul, Paget. Ant is married to Ruth, whom he describes as “the brains of the operation”. They have two grown-up children.

Canon Theologian: The Revd Canon Dr Sharon Prentis
ATIB was inaugurated by Dr Prentis in 2017, when she visited these islands as a representative of St Mellitus College.
Before relocating to be Canon Theologian for the Anglican Church of Bermuda, the Revd. Dr Sharon Prentis was the Deputy Director of the Racial Justice Unit (RJU) at the Church of England. She is passionate about the values of justice and righteousness as reflected by the kingdom of God. Sharon’s heart is to see every person be affirmed and encouraged to fulfil their vocation, irrespective of background.
An educator and public speaker, Sharon has degrees in Sociology, Anthropology, and Theology and has worked in various church, community, health, and education roles. She has served on several national boards and trusts and is an avid supporter of churches being involved in mission, advocating for social justice, and accessible theology.
As an author, Sharon has written numerous book chapters and articles on racial justice, the impact of racial intolerance, the need for corporate lament, and peace and reconciliation. She edited the book Every Tribe: Stories of Diverse Saints Serving a Diverse World which shares stories of diverse saints and holy people from around the world, and recently co-authored Heroes of Hope: 22 inspiring stories of Christians from around the world a version for young people aged 7-12.

Lay Chaplain and Tutor in Biblical Languages: Ruth Pettit B.A. (Hons)
Ruth is not only the friendly face of ATIB, praying with and for all the students and staff, she also knows where everything is – vital knowledge for all who are hungry and thirsty (for God and actual victuals).
Ruth holds a degree in Theology from Durham University, where she focused on Biblical Hebrew and New Testament Greek. She is passionate about teaching, especially young people. Ruth has written several courses in Biblical languages for a range of abilities, and is currently writing a course to bring the faith language of Jesus to a contemporary audience.
Known as “Mama Ruth” to many young people in Bermuda, whether she’s teaching scripture or baking, she seeks to ensure the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ is made available to young people everywhere in safe, engaging, and strengthening ways.
