Lent 2026 Resource

By Canon Sharon Prentis

In the Christian calendar, Lent is one of the most significant seasons for followers of Jesus Christ, why? Because it’s a time for us to slow down and think seriously about His journey to the cross and what sacrificial love really means for our lives.

Often, it’s when we recall the first time, we encountered the story of salvation and what hope personally means to us. But for those who are also wondering at what is going on around them on the global stage, it is a time to ask questions and ponder what significance does the story of Jesus have in our times. It is a time is prayer and quiet introspection -individually and as the family of God where the usual practices are put aside.

This Lent resource is intended to help us think about Jesus as prophet, priest and king, and what that means today. Written in partnership with many across the diocese, the intention is to relate our own personal experiences to offer reflection on these areas. Jesus is the prophet who witnesses to God’s activity in the world; He is the priest who is there interceding for us to God the Father, and most glorious of all, the king whose justice and righteousness reigns supremely. I hope this will be a framework for thinking about Jesus in these particular aspects. How Christ relates to our world today, and how we’re called to follow as transformed people.
