About St. Peter’s Their Majesties Chappell
The oldest Anglican Church outside the British Isles and the oldest Protestant church in continuous use in the New World.
Established when Bermuda was settled by the Virginia Company in 1612, for over 400 years this has been the church of the Town of St George. It is a cultural and historic icon, a holy place at the heart of a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Central to the life of the settlers community was the wooden church, the international planting of the Church of England in the New World. The church, rebuilt several times over the years, eventually in stone, and dedicated to the Apostle St. Peter in 1826, is the birthplace of Christian worship in Bermuda.
We strive to meet the growing opportunities for Christian witness and service in our community and as we welcome over 60,000 visitors annually, many of whom take a moment for a quiet prayer in this sacred place. Our parish includes Chapel of Ease in St. David’s and the Unfinished Church.
We are open to visitors Monday to Saturday from 11.00 am to 3.00 pm. We look forward to welcoming you to St Peter’s in person and thank you for your $2 pp donation for entry.
All are welcome to join us for Sunday Service at 11 am.
